This years VBS Theme is God's Big Backyard. I just want to give honor where honor is due. The people on the pictures were the ones responsible for this awesome decorations. TO THE RESCUE

The door locker of our church sliding door was broken early this morning. I tried to call three carpenters but they were all busy. Being the church administrator, I was beginning to worry.... thanks to my husband who is always to the rescue. He replaced the damaged one with a heavy duty and branded door locker. Thank God for his knowledge in carpentry . ( He got it from their family's furniture business ).

I wanted to get a picture while he is doing the work for my blog , but he doesn't want to be expose.. naks! Anyway , I respect his right for privacy.

MOMMY MOMENTS - DADDY MOMENTS

We are a family who really loved swimming. We have been to beaches and swimming pools countless times this summer. When we had our vacation in Cebu City and Bohol last April and May , we booked hotels with swimming pools .

Our love for swimming dates back when we were still young. I grown -up in Burgos st., CDO, wheere the river is just 10 meters away from home. My husband also lived in an exclusive subdivision near a beach resort.

but unfortunately the car went wrong. So what they did?
Swimming at the backyard with matching water hose...hahahahahaha.

LOST AND NEVER FOUND

Oh God! I left the blouses I just bought from the Mall inside the Taxi.! I screamed as I reach the house front door. I ran after it but my pace is too slow compared to the vehicles speed. What shall I do now? I am down hearted because it cost a lot of money and I have promised my mother-in-law to give the blouses this week-end.

LESSON LEARNED ? Focus on what you are doing. I was texting at the same time paying the driver. I didn’t know I was able to bring only two plastic bags. I called up "Jordan Taxi" but the office in-charge informed me that there was no items turned-over for this day. Oh I have to re- align again our budget to buy again. Promise is a promise. I just can not let down my mom-in-law by justifying its lost.

OUR SUSTAINER OF LIFE

We need to be reminded on a fairly regular basis of some realities concerning our faith and the God whom we serve. The most important is that God is God. Psalm 100:3 boldly declares “ Know that the Lord is God.” Our Lord God is the creator and sustainer of life. Everything flows from him. All creation has come from his hand. All creation continues by his power.

But things happen when we lose track of these facts. We begin relying on our own strength. We began walking by sight and not by faith. We push off the thrones of ourhearts and put ourselves there instead. We all drift into that mode at some time or another, don’t we? Today, lets be reminded that we are called to believe.

BLOGGING 101

I have few friends whom I introduce blogging. Friends who has gift on writing. Honestly I am still learning but let me share to you what I have learned from two months of blogging. So here it is my simple instructions/steps on making a blog. Hope it is comprehensive.

How to create a Blog and earn through it.

1) You must have a blog. you can create an account with any of the free hosted blogs like yourblogname.blogspot.com or yourblogname.wordpress. For a blogspot blog you can go to www.blogger.com to create a free account

2) Chose a template . Templates design must suite your theme or personality . Add a lay-out before adding your gadgets and widgets. This is where I made a mistake. My followers and neo counter were gone when I applied my template. Go to www.btemplates.com for lay-outs. Extract the code and add to your HTML .

3. Add widgets and Gadget. For your message box you can copy code from http://cbox.ws/?r=3-2886644 for your traffic counter you can register from http://www.neoworx.net .

4) Post as much as you can in 3 months. For the next three months, don't think about monetizing your blog yet but enjoy writing your posts. Consider it as your diary. You can write anything under the sun. Express your emotion…

5.) Build your traffic and links. While waiting for you blog to mature, you can also build your traffic by letting people know about your blog . Go blog hopping, leave comments on their blogs or notes on their message box. Follow others so they will follow you. Join Memes like Word-filled Wednesday , Thankful Thursday , Food trip Friday, mommy moments ( Just click my widget, then you will be redirected)

6) Create a Paypal Account - While waiting for your blog to mature, you can also create an account with Paypal . Visit www.paypal.com for more info. This is the way companies pay you. ACCEPTING OURSELVES

I was so blessed with the Sunday’s preaching that I was encouraged to publish excerpt of it.What you think about yourself is very important. It affects your happiness and everything you do.It affects the way you get along with other people. Most important of all, it affects your attitude toward God.

To help us think right thoughts, let us consider three facts from God’s Word.

1. We were created by God. Psalm 100:3 “ Know that the Lord He si God; It is He that has made us, and not ourselves.

2. We were created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 “ God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He them; male and female

3. Each of us was given certain characteristic by God. 1 Cor. 4:7 - Who makes you different from another? And what do you have that you did not received?"

No one had a choice as to his parents, his race, the color of his skin, his intelligence, his physical appearance, or his natural abilities. These all came to us by birth and they all came from God. Since this is true, there is no place for pride on our part.

We do not have anything to be ashamed of regarding the way God made us. You would not like it if someone made fun of something you made, and God does not like it when anyone makes fun of another person. Never, never, never make fun of another person.

To look down on yourself or to make fun of yourself is also wrong. In fact, it is just as wrong as looking down on someone else or making fun of them.

WOODEN SCULPTOR

While I was in Baguio City, I was fascinated with the different wooden Life-size carvings in our hotel. These are the effigy of the Igorot warriors. They are symbols of power, strength, ferility and royalty. They are exquisitely carved by Igorots himself and sold in exclusive boutiques. Igorots are one of the Indigenous people in the Philippines. The Cordillera region ( where Baguio City belongs) is its ancestral domain .

Aside from the wooden Igorot carvings , there are other designs which comes in all shapes and sizes. From the 2 inches strawberries , the 5 ft rosaries to horses. I have a naughty barrelman and naked woman back scratcher ( I am tempted to upload the pictures but was reminded with its malicious design..hahahahaha! )

PROTECTING OUR CHILD ONLINE

As my hubby and I were pondering on the immorality on the cyber space, we came to ask ourselves how can we protect our children on running webpages that are full of pornography and immoral material. So we ask our friend who is an expert on this matter. According to him, there are several software and service companies who’s objective is to protect our kids against these pages, but the problem is they can only block you from searching on certain words ( like naked, nude, hooker,slut, etc.) and they create a list of known bad sights and block you from them. The challenge is there are thousands of websites sprouting every week and they will not be put up on the block list. He said, the filtering programs help but are far from efficient in the task of cleaning up the Internet.

So what should we do? Use a password on the user profile , so when they will use the computer, they will ask you for it . Sometimes, we sometimes new roman explore the internet together with them taking the lead. We educate them regarding pornography and hate materials and teach them what to do in case they will encouranter such webpages. As of now, we are regulating their time with the internet. They can only use it when we are already at home. Come school time, the computer will be used for research only with our supervision.


It is really a great challenge for us parents to discipline our children . Let us continue to bring them to God in prayers. “ Greater is the Lord who is in us than he who is in the world” 1 John 4:4

PAP TEST IS A MUST AMONG WOMEN

A friend of mine asked me about Pap smear test. She was advised by the doctor to undergo since she has some irregularity in her menstrual period. So I asked my brother who is a doctor about it.

I have learned that a Pap Test is a way to examine cell collected from the cervix ( the lower , narrow end of the uterus). Its main purpose is to detect cancer or abnormal cell that may lead to cancer. It can also find non cancerous conditions, such as infection and inflammation.

It is important of a woman’s routine healthcare because they can detect abnormalities . Cancer of the cervix is more likely to be treated successfully if it is detected early. Women should undergo this test once every three years.

My brother said Cancer of the Cervix is common for women ages 25 to 50. According to study 1 out of 25 women has cervical cancer that is why Cervical Vaccine is recommended for advance prevention.

RUNNING THE RACE

This is one of my most memorable verse. I was given the opportunity to preach one wednesday mid-week fellowship. There were 80+ brethren present . I was nervous at first but the spirit of the Lord moved and it took all my fears away.

OUR DOGS

These were our dogs. The first one was with us for almost 8 years ( he died of old-age) and the other survived only for 3 months. I missed having one on our home. Dogs have the ability to feel deep affection and project unfailing good will. They are often good natured. They seldom complain and never threaten to leave us. There constancy can be a comforting presence.

Dogs are smart. One time there was a burglar attemp in our house. The young juveniles wanted to get in by nreaking our door knob. They were shooed away by our dogs barking. They are man's best friend. No one knows exactly when dogs are domisticated but arhchaeologist do know rhat many cultures around the globe began treating dogs like members of the tribe around 14,000 years ago. This alliance with dogs was so deep that in many ancient cemeteries dogs have been discovered buried in the same graves as humans.

LABOR OF LOVE

This is one my hubby's gifts last mothers day. He secretly charcoal - painted it for only 1 day. I was surprized.. because I have not seen him doing it for the 14 years we've been together. When I ask him if he has done it before, he said only once when he was only 18 years old. I am flaterred coz I know how he labored and tried to perfectly paint it. It was given with a love letter at the back of it. My hubby is so sweet and thoughtful. He the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I greatly Praise God for him!

MAY SEVEN

I am inspired to write an article about my friend May Seven. ( do not be confused -her name and birthday is the same). I came to know her as a chubby and charming 9 year old girl. She was my church mate's sister. Little did I know that this little girl would become my friend and little sister. I am an only girl in a family of 5 boys. So I longed for somebody whom I can confide my girly little talks. She filled that void in my heart.

During summer, she oftentimes stayed in my office. My employer don't mind her , since she's not a nuisance . She just sits in one corner doing her readings and writings. We became closer when her family moved to our subdivision. When I gave birth to my first son, she was 24 hours on duty at the hospital. She sometimes baby sits my baby while I am away at work.

She has her own share of challenges in life and I have been with her during those days. I watched her grow physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Now she is in Union City, California , USA for almost 7 years. Though we are miles apart, we are connected through the internet. I am truly blessed with her life that amidst the fast-paced life and the immorality in the US, she remained faithful and manages well her family , business and ministry.

She's truly an inspiration. I missed her...

TARSIER : Monkey or not?

The Tarsier foundation was our first stop in Bohol. There we learned different facts about it. Here are some trivia :

Is Tarsier a Monkey ?
No, it is not monkey. It is a primate like monkeys but belong to a more primitive family.

Do they sleep at Night?
No, they are nocturnal. They are active at night.

What does a Tarsier Eat ?
They eat lizards, small birds and insects

What are there main threats?
Habitat distruction, house cats, hunting and pet trade

How many young can a Tarsier have each year?
Female Tarsier can have only have one young per year and will take care of it for 6 months

OTHER FACTS :

1. Tarsierseyes is 150 times bigger than human ( in proportion to body)

2. They can rotate there head 180 degrees.

3. They can move there eyes to the direction of sounds

4. It has elongated leg bones.

5. It has elongated feet and toes that grip.

6. It can jump up to 5 meters and uses itrs long tail for balance

AMAZING CHOCOLATE HILLS

The Chocolate hills are probably Bohol's most famous tourist attraction. When we arrived at the site, there were almost a hundred people ( May is fiesta time in Bohol so imagine the crowd) . Some going down and others still climbing up the 214 steps. We stand in awe as we saw the stunning beauty of Gods creation… It is breath taking. There are around 1200 plus choco hills around Sitio Carmen, Bohol. We wanted to stay longer but lots of people coming up and the place was a little crowded.

There are many tales how they were formed. The most commonly accept theory is that they are the weathered formations of a kind of marine limestone on top of a impermeable layer of clay. If you climb the observation hill near the complex, you can read this explanation on a bronze plaque. They are uniform in shape, mostly 30-50 meters high. Above all the legend and scientific explanation – It is God who made it , in His awesome power.

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER

I coordinated a Wedding last week. It was a perfect one. No bloopers, no late comers, no candles or accessories left behind, the preaching is perfect, the food is sumptuous, no swinging of moods by the entourage and guests. The vows were romantically conveyed. The music is pleasing. Praise the Lord !

Every wedding we are attending is a special time for us. It’s a time for our renewal of vows also. We are on the 14th year of our married life . We are fulfilled and joyful knowing that God is its third party. Like a three-stranded rope – it can not easily be broken if God is in the middle of it.

Fort San Pedro -1565

Our first stop in Cebu was the “Fuerza de San Pedro”. It is a military defense structure built by Spanish under the command of Spanish Conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Cebuano people in 1565. It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepencia, in the Peir Area of Cebu City. For a minimum fee of Twenty Pesos ( P20.00), you will enjoy the historical structure and the museum inside. You will be amazed with the original paintings, pictures and articraft. You will be refreshed with your History in school. The roof garden is so refreshing. The children posed by the canyons surrounding the top of the perimeter wall. There is also a wishing well at the ground floor where my nephews joyfully made their wishes.

DELAYED FLIGHT

Our excitement to our most awaited cebu-bohol trip turned into a bit of disappointment . Our flight was re-scheduled from 2:50pm to 7:20pm then later on move again to 9:20 pm. The aircraft was held my Cebu-Pacific Air maintenance department for further maintenance work. We supposed to spend the whole afternoon until closing time at Ayala and SM. I began to grumble but my husband reminded me that "PATIENCE IS A VIRTURE” , we must learn to master it.

So we used the 6 ½ hours playing various hand games and riddles. We ate, we teased, we laugh, we sleep….

In fairness, the Cebu Pacific Staff provided as with two free meals and 4 free flight tickets valid for one year to any where in the country. So? Everything work together for good!

HELP!

I just came back from a one week Cebu- Bohol family vacation. It was such a very enjoyable and memorable trip. I was with my whole family and my brothers family also (I will make a blog later on our adventures) My focus now is my NEOCUNTER... My thousands of visits were gone. I later found out that i was able to download the premium Trial version...huhuhuhuhuhuh. What shall I do? Can it be retrieved? I downloaded the FREE version already but it was downed to 1. Charge to experience...hahahahaha. Anybody can help? leave a comment

WE'RE GOING TO CEBU AND BOHOL

We are going to our much awaited Cebu-Bohol Trip. As of now, we are having our lunch at the church to catch up with the 2 pm flight. I sneaked to my office for a quickie note for my blog. So guys, I will be out in the blogosphere for a week and concentrate on our adventure. My hubby purposedly left our laptop so Ican focus... hahahahahaha.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

A woke up this morning receiving various texts from friends and church mates greeting me a "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY". As i was texting my sis-in-law, I can not helped but cry. I Missed her so much. Never was a mothers day that I didn't give her a present, a hug and a kiss. As of this writing, my heart is heavy. How i wish she is still here with me. Being the youngest and the only girl in the family, we are so close...

Mama Purie's love is God's love in action.
She looks with her heart and feels with her eyes. She is the bank where we her children deposit all thier worries and hurts. She is the cement that keeps her family together and her love last a lifetime.

AFRAID OF SWINE FLU?

Afraid of swine Flu? I guess people are not. Would you believe that in a matter of Ten Minutes the Lechon was dissected to its lowest form. (kawawang lechon....)

This was during my hubby's birthday and at the same time leaders bonding.

ELEMENT OF SURPRIZE

Its MOTHERS DAY tomorrow. I am getting excited as the day draw near. I suspect that My Hubby and the kids have a surprize gift for me..( hahaha its no longer surprize...). My hubby did not report to work for 2 days . The kids have that sparkle in their eyes everytime i mention mothers day. Once I saw them surfing the net for mothers day gift or whatever they are surfing and they refrain me to go near them. I love the feeling - the element of surprize.

THE RAINBOW

I went to my Doctor again for a follow-up diagnose of my GERD ( Gastric- Esophagus Reflux Disease) . I waited hours for my name to be called. During that waiting time, fear and worry crept in . But I was relieved to see some improvement basing on the images of the doctors high tech computerized equipments. He advised me to continue with my medication for 2 months , to be deligent with my bland diet and to be stress free .

As we went out the hospital - I was amazed to see a Rainbow above us. Right there and then, God spoke to me in a very still small voice that " He will never leave me nor forsake me"... that " by His wounds I am healed". I was teary eyed when I shot this picture.

CYBER PROSTITUTES

Heard of that Cyber-sex Den busted in our city two weeks ago? Yes, it was runned by two swedish nationals using girls as Cyber prostitutes ages 18-25. These unfortunate girls were promised work in singapore but later on brought in our place. They were literally locked-up in one shelter. One brave girl escaped, which her infomation lead to the raid of the place located at Barangay Kauswagan this city.

The improsonment of the two swiss is very controversial. Last week, they were taken out of the jail for a 3-day confinement in air-condition suite room private hospital. Thanks to the Media and concern NGO's, they were back to jail.

But just yesterday, I was grieved to hear that the 18 girls who were supposed to stay at DSWD for counselling were able to escape the secured place. Another orchestrated event? So that nobody can act as witnesses to the crime? Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Only in the Philippines !

Gen. Douglas McArthur

The McArthur Marker is the newest tourists attraction in the City. It is located in Macabalan, just 30 meters from the Port. It was inaugurated on March 13,2008 in time with the 63rd anniversary of the landing of World War II hero Gen. Douglas McArthur in Cagayan de Oro City.

We enjoyed our “Photo Ops” at the giant replica of McArthur’s hat , with the PT Boat and at the park. We watched with excitement the short Movie narrating the historical McArthur Heroism during the World WArII.

Gen. McArthur landed at the Macabalan Wharf on the dawn of March 13, 1945 aboard a PT Boat with submarines and proceeded to Del Monte Clubhouse before his departure to Australia where he said the famous line, “I shall return”.

MY BROTHER, MY DOCTOR

Its a great blessing to have a brother who is a medical doctor. Every time I am not feeling well or anybody in the family, he is just a text away. When the sickness is severe, he even calls us to give instruction on what to do. When he visits us ( by the way, he is living 200 km away), he always gives us various medicines from over-the-counter to the costly ones.

He was a great comfort and assurance. During my moms hospitalization. He was always in the ICU to oversight the medications and explain to us my moms medical condition. It was when I saw him sobbing at the bedside that I realized Mom will be with the Lord anytime that day. I thank God not only for his profession but his life as well.
