GROWING PAINS???

Dale , my 9 year old girl woke up again in her sleep tonight complaining of pain in her legs and arms. We have been to the doctor 4 months ago and her pediatrician told me that there’s nothing to worry because it is typical for her age to experience GROWING PAINS. She undergone CBC blood test, everything is normal.

She has been complaining on these pains for a year already. I have a brother who is a doctor assured me that this is common in children between the ages of 3 and 5 and then again between 8 and 12. I can no help but be worried. I can not stand seeing my little girl crying. I applied “Pao de Arco” oil and did some massage a while ago. Praise God after 30 minutes, she was able to sleep.

As I am blogging right now , I thought of consulting another doctor . This time not a pediatrician, maybe an specialist. Any suggestion ?

BEN

BEN
by Michael Jackson

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I'll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You've got a friend in me
(you've got a friend in me)

Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
[ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/8dGf ]
There's something you should know
You've got a place to go
(you've got a place to go)

I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Ben, most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
(a friend) Like Ben
(like Ben) Like Ben

GOODBYE MICHAEL

Michael Jackson was undoubtedly the biggest pop star of the '80s, and certainly one of the most popular recording artists of all time. In his prime, His albums dominated the charts . He has that identifiable voice, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of star power. I have uploaded some photos for his tribute :

while he was still 11 years old

The jackson 5

Michael Joseph Jackson was born August 29, 1958. The fifth son of steelworker Joe Jackson, Michael displayed a talent for music and dance from an extremely young age. BACLAYON CHURCH

This church was one of the stops in our Bohol tour package. We were so excited about the popular sites such as the Chocolate Hills , Tarsiers and Loboc River cruise. We have no high expectations about this church since we grow-up as non-catholics and that we have a big cathedral in our city. It was raining when we arrived on the site. I wanted to stay at the van but my hubby whose into art and culture encouraged me to go inside.I was speechless when I entered the church. The altar, with multiple levels, was unbelievable ! Its glow radiated and illuminated the whole church. Such a spectacular beauty.

The church as constructed in the 1727, and is considered to be one of the oldest churches in the entire Philippines and in Asia. Thanks to the parishioners and priests for preserving church for people of this generation to enjoy. It is made up of solid huge rocks and it shows travelers how inventive the people five centuries ago were.

Entrance to the church is free while the adjacent museum has a minimum fee of P25.00.. The museum has a treasure-filled collection of religious artifacts showcasing a rich showcase of Spain's fabled heritage: the cross and the sword.. The museum guides are very knowledgeable and the setup itself takes advantage of the convento where it is now located. So when you are planning for a Bohol tour, do not fail to include this in your trip.

YOU'RE MY HERO

I would ride on your shoulders
And look out on the world
Pretending I was big and tall like you
When you were there to hold me
I never was afraid
You made me feel there's nothing I can't do

If I'd spread my wings to fly
When I was very small
I knew that you'd be standing by
To catch me if I fall

CHORUS
You're my hero
Chasing the monsters from my room
Going on trips around the moon
The one who's always been there faithfully
You're my hero
And 'cause you're my Dad...
I'm twice as blessed and lucky to be me

As I kept on growing
We often disagreed
But you let me find myself in my own way
And it's funny, how just lately
I've come to recognize
How wise you are becoming every day
There's so much you've given me
I hope I've made you proud
You're everything a Dad should be
And it's time to tell you now

You're my hero
You didn't have to say a word
Your love was the message that I heard
Inspiring me to be all I can be
You're my hero
And 'cause you're my Dad...
I'm twice as blessed and lucky to be me

THATS OUR DAD

I was busy for work today. Got deadlines for my out of town seminar next week. We had also our date day tonight with the kids. we arrived home almost midnite, - thus the reason of this very delayed posting ( Better late than never huh! ).

Anyway.. here's the picture of my kids with their father for this weeks theme - THATS OUR DAD!

ADVANCE HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!
Thank you for the love, care , patience and guidance.

Shopping for Father's day

Me and my hubby are inseparable since we work in the same place. Its been a week since I have been struggling to find enough time on my own to look for a special gift for him this Father’s day. I want something unique and special. Last mother’s day he surprised me with my portrait which he personally charcoal painted. If only I have the talent , I would do the same.

Back to my shopping quest, I wasn’t able to find one that would totally stand-out. The ones displayed on the malls were very common and conventional like frame, mugs, shirts, ties, key chains, t-shirts and other regular items for fathers day. I went to Handy man to look for manly things like tools and car gadgets but I could not find something in line with his needs. I thought of giving him another cellular phone but it would be impractical for him to have two. It might end up on the hands of my son. Ah if only we have online shopping here like e-bay or amazon here…. finding gifts would not be this difficult. Wish me luck in finding my ultimate gift !

OUT FROM THE BONDAGE OF POLITICS

Presidential elections, legislative elections and local elections in the Philippines are scheduled to be held on May 10, 2010. It is still a year from now but the bickering between politicians are out of control. It very annoying, instead of focusing on the vital issues , they are tossing unending corruption issues with each other. Such a waste of time watching TV and reading newspaper with these kind of “hullabalo”.

I have been exposed to politics at an early age . My father has been a Barangay Chairman and Vice Mayor in one of the town in our province. I have been a “Sanguniang Kabataan “ Chairman also. I have seen our deadly and dirty politics is. Proof? I stopped for one year in college since I was hooked into it. Literally , we were taught to lie and do some shady transaction. Politicians are really good in justifications.
Praise God I was taken out from that miry pit. We transferred residence and I was not able to seek for re-election. I received Christ as my Pesonal Lord and Saviour the year after I was out in SK. The same year, God brought me to the right church where the God given leadership was maximized. The end of my political career but the beginning of a more fruitful year in the Lord.

Friendster/Facebook VS blogging

My friendster and facebook friends wondered where I have been for the last two months. These were the common messages in my inbox. My apology to all of you and to all those unaccepted invitations. Sorry to say but I found blogging more enjoyable . I feel a sense of fulfillment everytime I can post an article , received comments and read messages on my Cbox. Does this feeling only temporal for a newbie like me ? I hope not.

Anyway, I will try my best to schedule at least one hour a week to stay connected with my old friends.

INDEPENDENCE DAY OUTING

Instead of going to the mall , we decided to have a nature trekking yesterday. As the budget officer of the family, malling is very stressful hahahahaha. Sales and new arrival items are very tempting. Your P 500.00 is not enough for the meals and snacks. Thanks to a family friend who offered their farm . The kids had a great time swimming in the river ( it is their first time).

MALAYANG PILIPINAS

Lupang Hinirang

Bayang Magiliw
Perlas ng Silanganan,
Alab ng puso
Sa dibdib mo’y buhay.

Lupang hinirang,
Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig,
‘Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
May dilag ang tula at awit
Sa paglayang minamahal.

Ang kislap ng watawat mo’y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya
Kailan pa ma’y ‘di magdidilim.

Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati’t pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;
Aming ligaya, na ‘pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa ‘yo.

From Wikepedia :
Lupang Hinirang is the national anthem of the Philippines. Its music was composed in 1898 by Julian Felipe, with lyrics in Spanish adapted from the poem Filipinas, written by José Palma in 1899.

Originally written as incidental music, it did not have words when it was adopted as the National Anthem of the Philippines and subsequently played during the proclamation of Philippines independence on June 12, 1898. During the American occupation of the Philippines, the colonial government banned the song from being played with the passage of the Flag Law.[1] The law was repealed in 1919 and the song was translated into English and would be legalized as the "Philippine Hymn". The anthem was translated into Tagalog beginning in the 1940s. A 1956 Pilipino (standardised Tagalog) version, revised in the 1960s, serves as the present anthem.

Lupang Hinirang means "Chosen Land" in Filipino. Some English sources erroneously translate Lupang Hinirang as "Beloved Land" or "Beloved Country"; however, "Beloved Land" is a translation of the first line of Filipinas, which would be Tiérra adorada.

The national anthem is also colloquially known as Bayang Magiliw ("beloved country"), from the first line of the anthem.

HEAVENS DECLARE THY GLORY

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. Our family just finished watching “INDISCRIBABLE “ By Louie Giglio , and we all stand in awe with the greatness of God. My son who is just 13 years cried…. and we all cried.

He who hung the stars in the sky and created the sun and moon to give light both day and night, made the earth in all it's splendor considered us the “APPLE OF HIS EYE”. Hallelujah!

DANCING INMATES

They were listed by TIME MAGAZINE as among the ten most watchable Internet video . Their rendition of the Michael Jackson mega-hit Thriller placed as fifth during the magazines exclusive rating and noted that it was downloaded more than nine million times. As of today June 7 6:00 pm marked 23,137,972 views. They are the 1,800 dancing inmates of Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu City, Philippines.

This is the only Detention Center in the world that attracts tourist. Congratulations to the Cebu Provincial Government for a very dignified project. It only shows that people even if convicted with various crimes can still do things productive. Aside from having a healthy exercise it can also boost the self-esteem of the inmates.

How I wish , we were able to see the site when we were in Cebu City last month. Anyway, I have researched how to get a pass on the site next time we will be in Cebu . First , you must register at the Provincial Capitol of Cebu at the Governor’s office.Presentation is on the last Saturday of the moth. An hour before the presentation, a government bus will fetch you up near Governor’s Office and will bring you to the site at Barangay Kalunasan, a 10 minutes ride from Center of Cebu.

WE ARE EXALTED BY BEING HUMBLED

TEXT : Matthew 23:12

"Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

Some of the greatest blessings in life come when you humbly realize someone else is more important than you are. If you want to be somebody, put others before yourself. It’s as simple as that. Jesus put you before Himself. He taught, suffered and died, and He did this all so that you might be saved by believing in Him. Jesus is great, not only because of what He did, but why He did it. He humbly put you before Himself. Jesus wasn’t looking for glory. He was looking for you.

Bragging rights, everybody wants them. Whether it is the biggest house, the fanciest car, the most impressive wardrobe, the most well behaved children, the most accomplishments, everyone wants to be top dog in some area of life and everyone wants to be noticed.

This desire to be first is also called pride, and God has something to say to you who would desire to be first.

"Let no one come to you without feeling better and happier when they leave."
--Mother Teresa

"The measure of a man is not how many servants he has, but how many men he serves."
--D. L. Moody

Classes postponed to June 15

Thank God the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) announced today the postponement of the opening of classes in colleges and universities to June 15 citing threat of A (H1N1) virus. This will give enough time for students who came from abroad for a self-quarantine. My friends and churchmates who are studying in Ateneo de Cagayan were afraid for a possible entry of the virus since the University has countless of foreign students. De La Salle University in Manila had 7 case of infected students.

A text has been in circulation that A (H1N1) virus will not thrive on rainy season. If this is true ( I have yet to validate this information), then we might as well pray for rain every day.

Back to the school’s opening postponement, this is also good news for everyone who haven’t enrolled yet. Like my nephew who’s been begging me to pay for their enrollment registration. Now, I do not have reason not to assist because payday falls on the 15th hahahahahaha. Everything works together for good!

NATIONAL DONUT DAY

As I browsed the internet today, I have learned that every first Friday of June is National Donut day in the USA. Below is the excerpt from http://www.usc.salvationarmy.org.

The idea for Donut Day began in1938 on the battlefields of France during World War I when Salvation Army workers served coffee and doughnuts to soldiers in the trenches. Rations were poor so the doughnut idea was conceived as a means of bringing the soldiers cheer.

Though that world war has come and gone, Salvation Army workers continue to care for and comfort thousands of people each day who battle hunger around the world and in the Chicagoland area. By supporting Donut Day, with a donation or through volunteering, you help The Salvation Army keep its food pantries, meals on wheels, senior citizen feeding programs and childcare nutrition programs alive and well. If you can give a few dollars or a few hours of your time, you will help provide 1.9 million meals to the hungry in Chicagoland.

Among the donuts in the Philippines, I love most the Go nuts Donuts .On a scale of 1-10, I give 9. There donuts are soft and moist and the frosting is firm enough that it doesn’t drip . Their butternut us an ultimate nut case, with butter cream icing topped off with chopped peanuts. So yummy…. Sad to say they still don’t have outlets here.

WE HAD AN ACCIDENT

The speedometer registered 25kph. My husband was slowly maneuvering the road on our motorbike with me and my 2 kids behind him . A woman in her 50’s suddenly run crossing the street. We never expected her to cross since we are just 2 meters away from where she stood. Immediately my husband applied brake but its too late, the woman was dragged a meter away from where we hit her.

Miraculously nothing serious happened. The woman suffered only a small concussion on her ankles. We brought her to the nearest hospital fur further medical examination but all is well. We give her extra money to appease her heart. She admitted she miscalculated the distance. She didn't notice us since her eyes were fixed on the other motorbikes 20 meters behind us.

I greatly thank God for His protection and that we only had bruises, my husband on his arms and mine on my legs. Until now, my two kids wondered how come they were unscathed, how our cellphones held in our hands were not thrown away.

God surely watches us 24/7, every second, minute, hour and days of our lives. We are the apple of Gods eye… ( Deut. 32: 10, Zechariah 2:8). To God be all the Glory, honor, praise, worship and thanksgiving! Hallelujah!!!

Psa 91:1 Whoever goes to the LORD for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty,
Psa 91:2 can say to him, "You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust."
Psa 91:3 He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases.
Psa 91:4 He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.
Psa 91:5 You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day
Psa 91:6 or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight.
Psa 91:7 A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed.
Psa 91:8 You will look and see how the wicked are punished.
Psa 91:9 You have made the LORD your defender, the Most High your protector,
Psa 91:10 and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home.
Psa 91:11 God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go.
Psa 91:12 They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones.
Psa 91:13 You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous snakes.
Psa 91:14 God says, "I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as LORD.
Psa 91:15 When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them.
Psa 91:16 I will reward them with long life; I will save them."

WFW : FAITH

Heb 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

LIFE AND DEATH

We were at her bedside eagerly listening to her announcement that she is 4 weeks pregnant. She narrated how she had a difficult pregnancy of her only child 12 years ago. She bubbly talked about her past in the big city of Metro Manila and how opposite her life is here in Cagayan de Oro City . She was so happy and looking healthy. But that was yesterday…

Today, she is cold and lifeless . She went home with the Lord. As of blogging time, I still can not believe that she’s gone. Our conversation yesterday is still vivid in my mind. We have no hint that it was her last day. She was just rushed to the hospital for a minor complication. She was diabetic – her sugar level increase abruptly to 300+. She even assured us that all is well with her.

Death is like a thief in the night. No one knows when it will come. It will eventually capture all of us. Death is the common denominator of mankind. Whether you are rich and famous or poor and nobody -our physical existence will end at some point. Forever is too long for us to last.

Our friend Paz served God faithfully. Although she is differently abled she did not make it a reason of not giving her life to God. She served her purposed in life . How about you? . ARE YOU READY WHEN YOUR TIME COMES? Can you say to yourself “For me to live is Christ , to die is gain”( Phil 1:21) . Have you served your purpose in life? Do you have a personal relationship with God. Is He the Lord and Savior of your life?

If you have a hard time answering this question. Pray and seek God. Read the Bible. God is the answers to all the issues of life .
