While we Filipinos are earnestly praying for recovery over the dreadful effect the Storm Ondoy brought to our beloved country, there are some people particularly this certain YUBIN KIM (Twitter user ID UglyYuBin at http://twitter.com/UglyYuBin) heartlessly wished we all die in flood and even called us monkeys. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! There are really unkind and merciless people in this planet. I hope and pray, she will get to know the God that we are serving. God forgive her soul.

My love for music started when I learned to play the guitar at an early age of 9. I grew up in a family of musicians. My parents would sing beautifully worship songs during our church services. I have two brothers who were members of the “Vendetta Band”, a famous local band in our city in the 80’s. My love for music grew when I reached High school. I joined various singing contests and jammed with my brothers during their band practices.

Music in the 80’s and the 90’s are quite simple and easy to sing unlike today where it’s a bit complicated. You have to be a computer and internet literate to cope up with the technology boom. Wolrd-filled wednesday

Giving birth

I got a text from my brother this afternoon. His wife is scheduled to give birth on October 15 . He requested for a special prayer request since the pregnancy is a little bit complicated. I am also worried because the last pregnancy she had 10 years ago was a difficult one. My brother said that the doctor advised for a Caesarian Section Operation . Not only because of her age but also because of her hemorrhoids ( she’s taking venapro) . He was worried about the financial aspect but I advised him that finances will be the last thing he should think about. He needs to focus first what’s best for her wife.

New work schedule

We have just finished our Board Meeting. The Chairman of the Board ( my hubby) , decided not to hire a new house help ( Kring2x our house help was on-leave since her grandma was sick) . We discussed some policies and responsibilities which I, the Board Secretary took notes heartily… lol!

Seriously we assigned specific task to my kids on a merit and demerits points system. If a task is not done or undertaken late it will be a demerit. My two kids , a 13 yrs old boy and 9 yrs old girl unanimously agreed with their new assignments. I guess, they are aiming for the week-end monetary compensation .( That is if the merits are more than the demerits). Do we sound so strict with our military approach? I guess not, this is only to motivate them. We do believe that in the long run they will get used with their respective works .That they will no longer consider them as burden but a part of their daily routine.

Thankful Thursday : Simplicity

Simplicity is being simple. Not complicated, not confusing just plain being simple. But that is not the picture of many of us. We live in a complicated world with many complexities. We easily get entangled with so many things in life that oftentimes we overlook the beauty of a simple chuckle of young child, the wild flower that grew from our backyard, the sunrise early in the morning and the mist on the leaves of plants.

I cannot forget the wording on that picture I saw from a friend’s house that said, “Oftentimes God’s greatest miracles are small ones.” If you want to appreciate more of life, live it simply. Learn to appreciate your family, friends, your little accomplishments though how it seemed to be insignificant. And learn to count your blessings one by one.

Rushed to the hospital

1:15 a.m. got a call from my mom-in-law. Distressed and weak, she wanted to be taken to the nearest hospital. ( She’s been in and out the hospital this year) . In a flash, my hubby rushed her to her home which is 360 degrees opposite from our location. Till now, I do not have an update since hubby was not able to bring his cellphone . I am deeply worried …. God, let your healing touch be upon mommy tonight. Let us make a deal Lord ….. One is enough. You have taken my mom 5 months ago…please spare the life of my mom-in-law. You have seen how devastated I am when Mama Purie was gone…I know our lives are in Your hands, but not now Lord! My heart is heavy .. I am literally crying….

Talking about Robotic films, my best pick is I-Robot. We watched again the movie last week and I can not help but be amazed with the cinematography and the visual effects of the movie. Will Smith starred in the lead role of the film as Detective Del Spooner, who hates robots and dislikes their integration into daily human life.The story takes place in 2035 Chicago, in a world in which robots are commonly seen and used as servants.The film was directed by Alex Proyas and produced by John Davis, Topher Dow, Wyck Godfrey and Laurence Mark.

I have just finished watching the Mayweather and Marquez fight on Cable TV. There was no signs of 2 year retirement for the “ pretty boy” Floyd as he toyed and bullied the Mexican Numero Uno Juan Manuel Marquez. The MGM Gran Garden Arena was jam-packed with sports betting fans. Las Vegas betting is well known around the world specifically Las Vegas Sports Betting. So I guess, the crowd watching the fight went home either a winner or a losser.

Back to the boxing fight, I guess it’s time now for Mayweather to have a bout with Manny Pacquiao. This would be the greatest fight of the History. Who do you think will win?

Friendship Evangelism

Evangelism is the act of sharing Christ to others. There are so many ways to evangelize as Jesus shared the truth in many ways also. It could be telling someone about Jesus, inviting someone to church, modeling a Christian lifestyle, etc. Committing to evangelism means that you are prepared to be more deliberate in your Christ-sharing efforts.

Friendship evangelism is evangelism with a little twist – a focus on the relationships with people that we already have and those that you are in the process of forming. It means that you make the most of the relationships that you have in your life as a way to share about Jesus’ love.

This is what the church is doing now in our youth department. They see to it that ever Caregroup Session, they can invite at least one of their friends from school or from the neighborhood. I believe this is an effective system for Evangelism

My brother

I have a brother who is a medical doctor who loves card and sports gambling. Whenever Manny Pacquiao has a fight, he always bet for the opponent. ( I do not know why. I told him that he’s not being nationalistic…) .He has a son who is a football player. I am sure he will be introduced to Football Gambling, specifically NFL Gambling soon.

He’s living on a different City from us. How I wish I could talk to him regarding this matter.

As I have mentioned in my previous post, my house help went home to take care of her sickly grand mother. Hubby and I decided not to rush up looking for replacement but instead we will pray for the right one for us. So as the household floor manager ( huh!), I made a schedule posted on the whiteboard. The kids tasks are dish washing, table setting, floor sweeping and garden watering . My hubby for all the washing works ( Car and heavy clothes).Me? I’ll do the cooking , Ironing and kids tutorials. Attitude of Gratitude

Christians are to be characterized by an attitude of Gratitude about everything. Why? because we know that we do not deserve anything. Everything comes to us as a gift of God's love. We learned from the Scriptures that we are member sof a fallen race. At birth, we began to manifest rebellion, treason and enmity against the things of God. We are self-centered and opposed to others.

We have all manifested that from birth. God , in perfect justice, could have wiped out this entire race and none of us would have hope for anything in this life or beyond. But God gave to us anyway : God so loved the world , that He gave His only begotten Son, tha whosoever believeth on Him should not perished , but have everlasting life.".

Does that not awaken gratitude in your heart? Christians are to have a sense of gratefulness for even a crust of bread or a glass of water because it is all underserved. So be thankful . Let there be an attitude of gratitude!

You haven't had your Thanksgiving turkey yet. But with Christmas songs played over the radio , we start getting into the holiday mood early. When I was still young, Christmas was never ushered in until late October. Now, as early as September, Christmas music is already played on air. Was it only yesterday we had our exchanging gift, our ballroom parties and endless shopping? Yap! Time flies so fast.

I remembered we had an exchanging gift during one of our high school Christmas party, I received a women’s holiday sweater which is triple Extra Large. To be honest, I considered it one of the Ugly Sweaters I received that yuletide season.

Family computer buddy

I do not mind being over-exploited. I am already loaded with music, movies, graphics, soft-wares and games. No worries, my 160 Gigabyte hard drive is not screaming yet. I still functioned reliably even if my masters do some hard tasks on me. Take note, I am a family computer - I have 4 children who constantly compete with my attention (Oh my school research works are endless) and a mother who’s a blog buff and works till the wee hours in the morning.

Did you know that in our country today there 4 million children in 3 million households are being raised by their grandparents? They are now taking on additional responsibilities raising their children’s children. In their old age, they suppose to be relaxing on a racking chair but because of their untiring love to us and their grand children they are more than willing to be the nannies, school chaperon, tutors, etc..etc..etc..

Her garden , our haven

When you talk about landscaping… my mother –in-law is good at it. She’s already 72 yrs. old but she does all the gardening and landscaping of her garden . Every Sunday, after our church service is our date day with her. Because the weather in our city these days is as high as 36 degrees (just like in Arizona) , we love having our lunch at her lanai. It is so refreshing to be in her garden with all those flowering plants, her mini-fountain and various decorative jars .

We told her to update her gardening skills by visiting pathwaylandscape.com . There she can find various Arizona landscapes designs. Mind you, she’s computer literate too! She’s a jack-of-all trade just like my hubby. Lol!

Blog Hop : Remembering 9/11

Eight years ago on September 11,1001 , our world changed forever.

I was at the field doing some project inspection when the news of the attack was relayed to us over our handheld radios. The news in unbelievable so we all rushed to the office to confirmed it from our officemates. We do not have internet connection, radio or TV yet on our office, so what I did, I let my husband fetch me and we went home to watch that distressing event.

I cried watching the death and destruction in New York. I cried hearing the story of United 93. Like many Americans, I was angry. I was sad. I was terrified. I was numb. Different emotions rolled through me.

My hubby told me to kneel down and pray for America. We both cried before the Lord for His miracle working power… for His intervention. I was not able to report for work after lunch because I do not want to miss any single event that day.

I hope America and the rest of the world will never forget 9/11. We should continue to fight what we are fighting for. We should never back down, we should never surrender! Let us remember all the Heroes of 9/11.

Afghanistan, and never apologized for any of it. As much as Democrats and liberals would like us to apologize, to back down, to give up, to surrender

Making my home sing Monday!

Today is LABOR DAY in the U.S. and National day of Mourning in the Philippines ( burial of the Executive Minister of “Iglesia ni Cristo”). HOLIDAY for me means LABOR DAY – doing some house cleaning. The whole morning was spent on arranging our closet. Wow! There were lots of things needed to be organized and put back to its original places. I let my kids clean their rooms also. They put-away all outgrown clothes and toys so there will be enough space on their cabinets.

As of the moment, we had our recess time – time for snacks for a half day of labor.

I’ll be making My Home Sing this week by totally cleaning up our dressers and cabinets.
