A token from Hawaii

Got a package from my sister-in-law today . Her church-mate in California is now in our city to attend a very important family gathering. My very thoughtful sis sent me a token from her recent Hawaii Vacation. I thought it was the famous Hawaiian Chocolates but when we opened the box .... it was a set of Hawaiian dance attire – A Grass skirt... Lol! Out from curiosity, my mom-in-law, hubby and my little girl tried it. I wanted to upload a picture in this post but I am afraid it might be bold enough to my wholesome blog...hahahahaha.

California is a little bit far from Hawaii, but she was forced to attend a Laua party of a very close friend. A luau is basically a Hawaiian feast to celebrate special occasions like weddings, birthday parties, holidays, etc. Like a Texas barbeque, luaus are usually held outdoors, but if that's not feasible where you live, you can hold it indoors. From my sis face book account, I could see she enjoyed every moment of her Hawaii trip!

While doing this post, I am watching the inauguration of the 15th President of the Philippines - Benigno Simeon Aquino Jr. Various organizations – Government and NGO’s and People of all walks of life started to gather at the Quirino Grandstand to witness this momentous event. I guess videosurveillance were installed on different corners of the streets to insure the peace and order during the ceremony. GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES!

Your future must not be bleak

They say that retirement can be the saddest or the happiest day of one’s life. Thus, there is a greater need for the greater masses to have a better understanding if not a greater appreciation to prepare and improve our retirement outlook. Last January during our evaluation and planning, my hubby and I included a retirement savings plan in our budget. We realized, we are not getting any younger and saw the need to realign our expenses and save a certain percentage from our income for our retirement trust fund. This should be part of our long-term goal as it must also be for the many of us in the working class.

Most of us work to spend for what is only for the day’s needs. The doubling rise of the commodities’ price and other household payables are just overwhelming and too much a burden for the ordinary working people like us (house mortgage, food, education, transportation, insurances, and medication) the list goes on and on… However, what if the unexpected happens and you are laid-off from your job or worst yet your company suddenly declares bankruptcy? You will be groping in the dark with nothing to hold on and your future will be so bleak. This is what we need to look beyond the day-to-day needs. Our future and our security as well depend on how we are prepared today. Saving money may not be that exciting to many but it is the smartest thing to do in today’s changing world.

Right now, we are considering several options for our retirement. We came across these savings options for retirement and we want to know what will work best for us. My sister-in-law told me of a saving’s scheme that she considered the best and that is the Roth IRA. Hearing from her talking about a tax-free retirement savings account that grows tax deferred, and in which one pays zero taxes when he withdraws the money at retirement simply amazes me. If only we have it here in our place, my hubby and I would surely avail this.

I guess the Internet came with a purpose. For great distances to not be a hindrance and for people wanting to be up to date with the latest trends in fashion, technology, news, and business to name a few, the internet then serves a great tool at that. Running in a fast-paced society where in the business sector, time is a precious commodity. Every minute and every second, money flies in transactions. Money is dealt electronically, payments done and sent here and their. Shopping online is definitely evident to date. People wanting to seat, relax, without having to go outside their doors to go to malls to buy whatever they want and need can just sit comfortably and immerse in their computers to do just that.

Even when I log in to facebook, the top 1 site in the net for the record, my friends post pictures of products or featuring something to sell. Indeed, its evident that online marketing is inevitably a here-and-there scene. Dry Eyes?

Lately, I’ve observed that I am beginning to have dry eyes due to too much reading and blogging. I wanted to have dry eye treatment but my brother who is a medical doctor cautioned me not to use it on a regular basis. He said Artificial tears actually cause dry eye due to preservatives in the eye drops. I guess this is true , according to the Stahl Eye Center. What's that Celium Fiber over there? Ahhh.. I'm bringing that to my office! It's my lunch partner.

Second Home Insurance

Thinking of a total security for her house, my mother in-law recently purchased a Second Home Insurance on top of her original home insurance. Remember my post about our Boracay Escapade on my birthday next month? A friend told me that most of the girls are wearing Thong Bikinis there. Hmmm... can I have the guts wearing it? I hope so. How about you?

Escape from wearing Eyeglasses

20 years ago I was diagnosed to have Astigmatism, a common condition where the cornea is not perfectly spherical. My ophthalmologist prescribed eyeglasses to correct the problem but as far as I can remember I only used it for a month only. Being in my late teens, I was overly conscious wearing it . I thought , I could never be attractive to the opposite sex with my eyeglasses.So I secretly throw in away.. Lol! My parents didn’t noticed it since I was studying in college away from Home.

People often overlook the importance of healthy eyes. It isn't until something goes wrong that the thought crosses their minds. That what happened to me.... when I started to have frequent head-aches and began to have nausea every afternoon, it was then I realized I need an eye check-up. I thought it was again simple astigmatism but the doctor prescribe reading eyeglasses with a grade of 100.

Now, I have 3 sets of eyeglasses. One for my computer works ( which is a little bit expensive), another for reading and one I keep in my for emergency uses. I am no longer conscious with how I look knowing that I am already taken! Lol!

Help! I am Looking for a local moving company

My brother is moving out from our subdivision to their new home in the uptown area in our city. I am sad because it’s a great convenience having them near us. Family get together is a lot easier since their house has a bigger space and yard. The kids also are used having their cousins around every Saturday and Sunday. They loved watching DVD’s and playing computers together.

Anyway, the place they are transferring is much better than our subdivision. For a Physician like him, he needs a more decent and well known subdivision to live… where his neighbors will be the executives and the elite! Oucch! Ours is only for the common “tao”.

They will move –out their things Saturday and Sunday . He asked my assistance to look for an elf or Mini-Dumptruck from my friends but unfortunately they are not available. I searched the telephone directory to find a local moving company but all my efforts were useless. How I wish a moving company like Movers Los Angeles is available here to do a last minute hassle-free moving works. My brother is on duty 24 hours today, so I do not have a choice but to call my friends in the construction industry for help!

Watched NBA Finals from our HDTV!

Hubby and I just finished watching the NBA Finals from our HDTV ! Hurray! Our Dream Team LA Lakers won the game over their biggest rival Boston Celtics with 83-79 . I shouted at the top of my voice teasing my two elder brothers who are Celtics fanatics. Lakers were on a big deficit on the third quarter but they found a way making a classic victory. Thanks to Kobe Bryant for the 26 points and the assistance of Pau Gasol and Ron Artest with their three-points play. It was such a thrilling game! Congratulations!

My Quest for the cheapest Auto Insurance

One of our New Year’s Resolutions is to NEVER MISS TO PAY OUR BILLS ON TIME! It’s a great way of saving from surcharge and penalty interest fees. We set up reminders on our cellphones two days before the exact due date . We also marked the payable on our wall calendar . A friend recommended Google Calendar to set up recurring reminders about bill due dates but I’m still learning how to do it.

The month of June is the month with the highest expenses . School Fees and Vehicle renewal of registrations falls on this month. As of this week, I have been calling insurance companies for our Automobile and motor bike insurance. How I wish I can get an Auto Insurance quote as fast and easy like that of Los Angeles Auto Insurance.. In a minute you can get your Auto, Home, Life and Health Insurance . I tried their site when my sister-in-law from California asked my assistance to compare quotes for her SUV. Her laptop was under repair , so the blogger in being volunteered to do it for her. I just entered 90005 for her zip code , select the type of code and in a flash I was redirected to the cheapest and most affordable car insurance.

I'm not rich! I am just the keeper of my kids and husband's ATM Cards.Lol! My wallet does not only contain cash and cards but also important receipts, deposit slips, ID's and sometimes list of collectibles..hahaahaha.

Fireants: Nasty little critters

“Ouch! That stings! I hate these ants!”

This is always my line every time I get bitten from them! One of the nastiest bite or sting I always encounter is from a fireant other than bee or wasps stings or even from mosquitoes. Learning back from Biology class, these ants have Acetic acid inside of them (as in the acid the same as that of vinegar!) that’s the explanation why they just have that stinging bite! Furthermore they have this protein and some other components that really trigger some unpleasant sensation! Talk about histamine outbreaks! With regards to that, I know of some people that even one single and simple bite could cause some large and harmful reaction.
That is why we should not underestimate even a single fireant!

Every time I see one of them crawling, CRUSH!
I’m sorry but they are just a pestilence.

One time, when I left some food on top of our table, I then saw numbers of them and I was just making one ultimate goal: to annihilate them! I can’t help but wonder: Where do they come from? I’m sure there’s a source of a kingdom or colony or something. I so want to know their in-and-outs, details of their living, and of course, most importantly, the how-to-control and manage these little critters! The end of them I say!
